I am a Nutrition Coach certified through the International Sports Sciences Association with a passion for empowering clients to create real and lasting nutritional changes.
At twenty-eight I lost my grandmother to a heart attack, which served as a wake-up call for me. I was obese and pre-diabetic with a history of both diabetes and heart disease running in my family. I saw the need for a change, but I had no idea how to tackle this seemingly impossible challenge. My whole life, food had meant so much more than nutrition. Food was culture, food was comfort, food was connection. Was it even possible to unlearn the habits I had spent the entirety of my lifetime building?
The journey wasn't easy, and it still isn't over, but by working through the struggles and challenges I confronted as I changed my lifestyle, I learned a lot about myself and what I am able to accomplish. Along the way, I found a passion for learning about foods, trying healthier recipes, and learning about the body.
I want to share the benefits of a healthier life with others and help make the process of change easier and more realistic for them.
I currently live in Knoxville, TN with my husband and two dogs. In addition to nutrition coaching, I also work as a high school English teacher.
